As per case details, the Banaskatha Police under Bhatt had arrested Sumersingh Rajpurohit, an advocate, in 1996 on charges of possessing around one kg of drugs. However, a probe by the Rajasthan Police had revealed that Rajpurohit was allegedly falsely implicated by the Banaskatha Police.
Those who were held guilty included Safdar Nagori, Javed Ahmed and Atikur Rehman. Among those acquitted were Mohammad Irfan, Nasir Ahmad and Shakeel Ahmed.
Qayamuddin Kapadia, one of the key conspirators of the July 26 serial blasts in Ahmedabad, has been arrested by the Madhya Pradesh police.He allegedly planted cycle bombs in the city as well as bombs in different parts of Surat. He was also responsible for purchase of cycles on which the bombs were mounted and kept in different parts of the city.

Abdul Razik Mansuri, a resident of Gomtipur area in the city, and an accused in the serial blasts was arrested on Thursday from Madhya Pradesh, Joint Commissioner of Police, crime branch, Ashish Bhatia told PTI. "He was arrested from the Nagda district in MP by our team. He was there staying with some of his relative. We have brought him to Ahmedabad for interrogation," he said.
