Satyam Q3 net zooms to Rs 493.07 cr

Satyam Computer Services Ltd on Friday posted a 182.10 per cent jump in net profit to Rs 493.07 crore (Rs 4.93 billion) for the quarter ended December 31, 2005, as compared to Rs 174.78 crore (Rs 1.74 billion) for the corresponding quarter in previous fiscal.

The total income has increased 69.88 per cent to Rs 1,518.48 crore (Rs 15.18 billion) for the third quarter ended December 31, 2005, from Rs 893.84 crore (Rs 8.93 billion) in the year-ago period, the company informed the Bombay Stock Exchange.

"Customers are increasingly looking for globally diversified and integrated solutions, which are creating opportunities for us to partner with them across multiple geographies. Our European and Asia-Pacific business is benefiting from this trend, in addition to increasing penetration in their home markets," Satyam founder and chairman B Ramalinga Raju said.

The group has posted a consolidated profit after taxation and share of loss in associate company and minority interest of Rs 429.54 crore (Rs 4.29 billion) for the quarter ended December 31, 2005 as compared to Rs 164.87 crore (Rs 1.64 billion) for the corresponding quarter in 2004-05.

The total income of the group has increased to Rs 1514.69 crore (Rs 15.14 billion) for the third quarter of current fiscal from Rs 909.58 crore (Rs 9.09 billion) in the same period in 2004-05.
