The leopard-cat faceoff... in a well!

Date: September 6
Location: Nashi

Yes, they are cousins... distant ones.

They belong to the same feline family.

One decided to chase the other. But no one knew if it was in earnest.

The two -- a leopard and a cat -- came face-to-face after falling into a well in Nashik.

"The leopard fell in the well while chasing the cat. It was later rescued and released in its natural habitat," said Pankaj Garg, deputy conservator of forests, West Nashik division.

Nothing was said about the cat, though; we hope it was rescued as well.

A 12-year-old entrepreneur!

Date: September 6
Location: Kimin, Arunachal Pradesh

As Preity Zinta would say, 'Ting!'

A bulb -- figuratively, of course -- lit in 12-year-old Ngurang Taya's head as he watched his father make and sell -- what else? -- bulbs.

He decided to do the same.

And now, the 7th standard student has his own brand -- Kimin LED Bulb -- that he soon hopes to build into a successful business.

Even floods won't deter these teachers

Date: September 7
Location: Katihar, Bihar

You have to applaud their determination and drive!

Even as floods savaged Bihar, three young teachers from Katihar's Manihari town decided they would not let their students's education suffer.

So they started holding classes on boats.

One of the teachers said they would continue to do so until the flood waters recede.

The pandemic has already impacted children's education.

This was their way of making sure that the floods would not impede it even further.

Shilpa Shetty's eco-friendly Ganesha

Date: September 08
Location: Mumbai

She brings home Lord Ganesha every year.

Despite her current travails, this year is no different as Shilpa Shetty welcomed an eco-friendly Lord Ganesha.

The idol was created in the same workshop in Chinchpokli, south central Mumbai, that makes the city's revered Lalbaughcha Raja.

1200-year-old sculpture of Goddess Durga found

Date: September 8
Location: Srinagar

They thought they were digging for sand.

What they discovered instead was a beautiful 6 x 8 inches Goddess Durga, carved in black stone.

The idol was found by labourers on August 13 in the Jhelum river at Pandrethan, Srinagar -- Pandrethan, incidentally, is a former capital of Kashmir.

The sculpture -- which depicts Goddess Durga sitting a lion throne, surrounded by four attendants -- is believed to be around 12 centuries old.

"Examination by experts revealed that the sculpture of Goddess Durga dates back roughly to 7th-8th AD (about 1,200 years)," said the deputy director, department of archives.

Teenager learns to write with her toes

Date: September 8
Location: Patna

Every time you hear a story of grit and determination, it warms your heart.

Like that of 14-year-old Tanu from Patna, who lost both her hands in an accident.

But that did not deter this brave little girl, who has learnt to write with her toes.

The Class 10 student is set on completing her education and aspires to become a teacher.

Another first for the IAF!

Date: September 9
Location: Jalore, Rajashtan

The Indian Air Force believes in being ready for any emergency.

Which is why, on September 9, for the very first time, a Sukhoi Su-30 MKI fighter aircraft landed on National Highway-925A in Jalore, Rajasthan.

And BH-925A became India's first national highway to be used as an emergency landing strip for IAF aircraft.
