The Karnataka high court on Tuesday ordered prosecution of Chief Secretary K K Misra and another official in the controversial Bangalore-Mysore Infrastructure Corridor project case.

A division bench ordered that Misra and Under Secretary M Shivalingaswamy should be prosecuted under section 344 of Criminal Procedure Code for withholding important facts from the court, and submitting false statements in the affidavit.

The court directed Registrar (Judicial) to pursue the matter.

The bench, comprising Chief Justice N K Sodhi and Justice B Padmaraj, allowed two public interest litigations seeking early completion of the project.

Another PIL filed by legislators Madhuswamy and Sriram Reddy seeking a Central Bureau of Investigation enquiry into alleged irregularities in the project, was dismissed with costs of Rs 50,000.

The court directed Nandi Infrastructure Corridor Enterprise, which is executing the BMIC project, to complete it expeditiously.
