The focus on Friday was rivetted on Jharkhand Governor M Rama Jois, who is keeping a close watch on the political crisis triggered by resignations of seven state ministers on Thursday.

Speaker Inder Singh Namdhari on Thursday had announced the defeat of the Bharatiya Janata Party-led National Democratic Alliance government under controversial circumstances.

The governor, Raj Bhavan sources said, was keeping a close watch on the developments.

MLAs on Friday morning held a meeting at Namdhari's residence to chalk out their strategy.

Earlier on Thursday night the MLAs met the governor and staked claim to form a new government under Namdhari's leadership.

Chief Minister Babulal Marandi, whose goverment came into minority following the resignation of the seven ministers, also met Jois and apprised her of the developments.

Marandi contested before the governor the claim of the speaker that the government had lost on the opposition cut motion saying there had been no vote in the House.
