The Punjab police on Friday questioned Dera Sacha Sauda's chief Baba Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh at the sect's headquarters at Sirsa in Haryana.
Rahim Singh has been accused of hurting the religious sentiments of the Sikh community. The case was registered against the Dera chief in May, after he donned the attire of Guru Gobind Singh, the tenth Sikh guru.
Rahim Singh was questioned by a police team from Bhatinda, comprising 24 officials and led by deputy superintendent Surinder Pal Singh.
The questioning lasted over two hours but remained inconclusive, said Bathinda police chief Naunihal Singh.
"The interrogation was done in a peaceful manner. The Dera chief's replies to our questions were satisfactory," said Naunihal Singh.
The police will question Rahim Singh again on August 24.
However, this is not the first time that Singh has been charged with an offence. He is already under the scanner of the Central Bureau of Investigation for allegedly raping a disciple. He is also the prime accused in the murders of a journalist and a Dera manager five years ago.
Meanwhile, the Punjab and Haryana high court on Friday adjourned the hearing of Singh's bail plea in the murder and rape cases till Monday.
Justice Surya Kant adjourned the hearing following a request by Singh's counsel S K Garg, stating that his client had to travel out of station on Friday.
