Assam: One injured in blast, huge cache of ammunition recovered

A person was seriously injured in an explosion while making a bomb inside his residence at Sivasagar town in eastern Assam. The police also recovered a huge cache of explosives and ammunition from a rubber plantation in Goalpara district of western Assam on Tuesday.

Police informed that Raju Ali was seriously injured in the explosion. They also recovered some explosives from his house. The impact of the blast severed

both the hands of Ali.

Meanwhile, acting on specific information the Assam Police on Tuesday recovered a huge cache of arms ammunition and explosives hidden inside a rubber plantation in Hatigaon in Goalpara district. Police were tipped off about the arms and ammunition by arrested ULFA man Simanta Rabha. The recovery included six bombs, eight detonators, large number of AK 47 ammunition.

Police suspected that the explosives and ammunition were brought by the ULFA from Bangladesh to strike terror in Assam.
