Swiss jewellery watch manufacturer Carl F Bucherer intends to build up its presence in India through 15 sales outlets.
Priced between Rs 75,000 to Rs 450,000, CFB hopes to sell 200 watches in India in the first year of its presence.
The 15-point of presence would be created in the next two years.
CFB is also toying with the idea of roping in an Indian Ambassador for its range of products.
This was the company's strategy to penetrate step-by-step the 'difficult' Indian market, a senior official of the company today said.
"Since CFB launched its products in India very recently, it has been placed in select exclusive shops in Delhi, Chandigarh and Kolkata to retail watches. CFB will not rush as the focus is on the right distribution network at the right place through around 15 outlets in the next two years in India," CFB area director David Vallata said.
At a later stage the watch manufacturer would also consider the idea of setting up exclusive outlets in the country.
Priced between 2000 and 12000 Swiss francs, CFB's entire range will be sold in India. At least 30 of them will be available for selection at the point of sale.
CFB has made a mark for itself in jewellery designing. It entered watch-making in October 2001 in Switzerland and since then has expanded its presence to Hong Kong, China, Taiwan, UAE, Thailand, Germany, Russia and India.
"CFB will soon be entering Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia, besides Spain, England, Italy and Japan," Vallat said.The area director said CFB was expecting to sell 8000 to 10,000 watches worldwide in financial year 2005 of which only around 200 will be sold in India.
The watches in Kolkata would be available at Ram's in the Metro shopping centre, he said.
