Real estate and hospitality major Hiranadani Constructions on Friday said it has plans to set up two Special Economic Zones - one in Powai and the other in the city periphery.

The company has already received the approval to set up an IT SEZ in Powai and would invest Rs 500 crore.  The other one is a multi-services SEZ, for which it has already put forward the proposal to the state government.

"The Powai SEZ would be set up on 32 acres of land at an investment of Rs 500 crore," managing director Niranjan Hiranandani told PTI.

Hiranandani said the work for the SEZ would start "very soon" and would take two years to complete the construction.  The company would set up another SEZ in the periphery of the island city, he said but declined to divulge details.

"The second one would be a multi-service SEZ, but we are yet to receive the approvals. Since, the approval is pending, I do not want to reveal much on the project," he said.

However, market sources said that the company had long been nurturing the idea of setting up a multi-purpose SEZ in Navi Mumbai, the satellite town on the outskirts of Mumbai.

"The company has already put forward the proposal to the state government," they said.
