Infosys: Directors, FIIs own 57%

N R Narayana Murthy, Nandan Nilekani and other directors of Infosys Technologies along with Foreign Institutional Investors own half of the company despite a gradual drop in their shareholdings.

Directors and FIIs together hold 57.09 per cent in the Nasdaq listed company as on March 2006, according to latest filings made by the company to the Securities & Exchange Commission.

The shareholdings of all directors and officers as a group has decreased to 19.18 per cent in 2005-06 from 21.25 per cent in 2004-05. The holdings of FIIs in the company has decreased to 37.91 per cent in 2005-06 from 42.87 per cent a year ago.

The holding of the promoter families is placed at 19.92 per cent. The biggest shareholders in the company are the directors, including its chief mentor Narayan Murthy and his family, who own 5.91 per cent stake as of March 31, 2006, followed by CEO and MD Nandan Nilekani and his family which own 4.09 per cent.

1.44 crore shares are owned by Murthy's immediate family, the filing said.

The former CFO and current HR head, TV Mohandas Pai holds 4.53 lakh shares whereas V Balakrishnan, the incumbent CFO has 2.55 lakh shares.
