The corpus of the fund will predominantly be invested in the DWS Strategic Global Themes Fund domiciled in Singapore, Deutsche Asset Management said in a statement.
The scheme identifies themes that are driven by long-term secular change, it said, adding it then invests in companies that are positively impacted by these themes.
For investors, this means being able to access the potential for greater returns from companies and countries that may not be in the MSCI World Index, it said.
"The objective is to develop an all-season portfolio that aims to mitigate the peaks and troughs of the global economy," said DeAM India Head Vijai Mantri. By focusing on themes rather than geography, the fund provides investors with greater diversification than typical global equity funds, he said.
Investments can range from gas and steel companies in emerging markets, to data security and luxury brand companies in developed markets, he added. The scheme with a a minimum application of Rs 5,000 closes on August 28.
The assets under management of Deutsche Mutual Fund in India now stand at Rs 10,000 crore (Rs 100 billion).
