We had asked you, dear readers to share your good and bad ATM experiences.

Here's the latest set of responses we received.

ATM woes

Joel Donald, 42, narrates his experience:

This happened on November 20, 2014.

I went to an SBI ATM at Rajahmundry (in Andhra Pradesh) near to my residence (where I earlier lived) to withdraw Rs 2,000.

When I tried to withdraw, to my amazement I received only one Rs 500 note instead of customary 3 X 500 + 5 X 100 notes.

I lodged a complaint with the bank, but haven't received the difference of Rs 1,500 till date.

When this incident happened, the ATM security official came to help me and asked me the about the issue, which I innocently told.

I believe this is a case of malpractice between the security guard and the guy who puts the money into the ATM.

He noted the amount and must have told to the filler guy who would have removed the excess money.

Later I came to know that the same incident occurred with a friend of mine -- K S S Giridhar, in the same ATM booth. My friend also has not received the money till date.

After the incident, both of us warned as many people we could, to not make transactions at that particular booth as it was malfunctioning and the personnel involved, we thought, were utilising the opportunity.

The SBI manager (APPM Branch with IFSC code SBIN0001980) didn't bother to listen to our plea either.

Manish Mourya from Nagpur recounts his story:

Recently I tried to withdraw Rs 3,500 from an Axis bank ATM.

I didn't receive the money but the amount was debited from my account. I received an SMS stating Rs 3,500 had been deducted.

I tried to contact Axis bank customer care through their phone banking facility to register a complaint. The call could not be connected to the concerned executive as the line would get disconnected; this has been one of the issues with Axis bank.

I logged into my e-mail account and wrote to the Axis bank customer service desk and waited for their reply.

The next morning, I went to Axis bank's local branch office and the officer told me it would take seven days.

I told him I required the amount urgently. He continued to tell me the process will take time.

I simultaneously lodged a complaint over the phone also and received a complaint number. I requested them to process in 24 hours in view of urgency.

Till date, the amount hasn't been credited to my account and there has been no communication from the bank yet.

Santosh Kumar S R talks about a mistake he made that cost him dear:

This incident took place about eight years ago at an HDFC ATM.

This was when cash deposit at ATMs were just beginning to become  popular.

We were provided with envelopes to seal the cash in and the ATM accepted the same, through a slot, after filling in the details in the machine.

I had to deposit Rs 10,000 in my account which I decided to do through an ATM.

I made the deposit and the money was  credited after a couple of days and I forgot all about it.

What I didn't realise was that instead of Rs 10,000, by mistake, I had placed Rs 11,000 in the envelope.

After about a month, I received a letter from the bank which stated that I had deposited Rs 11,000 instead of Rs 10,000 that I had stated and the difference amount was being credited into my account.

In addition it also stated that I was charged a fine/penalty of Rs 600 towards the wrong deposit.

I checked my account statement and sure enough there was a credit of Rs 1,000 and a debit of Rs 600 which I meekly accepted.
