BCCI barred from suspending Kale

The Pune District civil court, hearing cricketer Abhijit Kale's appeal against the suspension imposed on him by the Board of Control for Cricket in India, restrained the BCCI from barring him from playing first class matches without holding an inquiry.

The court's verdict makes the Maharashtra batsman eligible to play first-class cricket again.

BCCI president Jagmohan Dalmiya suspended Kale after he received written complaints from two national selectors -- Kiran More and Pranob Roy -- that the player had offered them Rs 10 lakh [approximately $22,000] each for a place in the Australia-bound Indian team.

Besides suspending Kale, Dalmiya announced an inquiry into the allegations by Bar Council of India chairman D V Subba Rao on November 21.

The Board asked Rao to submit his report within 15 days, after which the Disciplinary Committee which will decide on the matter.

Rao has asked Kale and the two national selectors to present their case before him at Visakhapatnam on Saturday.
