The Indian Navy is inviting applications for the 10+2 (class 12) BTech Cadet Entry Scheme 2026 for recruitment of permanent commissioned officers in its executive and technical branches.
The defence ministry has informed the Supreme Court that a notification allowing women candidates to appear for the entrance exam to the National Defence Academy will be out by May next year.

India is just a step closer to having women as permanent commissioned officers in its armed forces, with the tri-services giving their consent to a proposal from the government in this regard.The government's decision on the matter was likely to come in a month or two, and from around 2013 onwards the country's military academies would start enrolling women as officers on permanent commission.
