The names of all the 3.30 crore applicants as per draft NRC and supplementary list of inclusions and exclusions (final NRC) have been published.
The draft published on July 30, 2018 included the names of 2.9 crore people out of total applications of 3.29 crore.
Complaints against Prateek Hajela on such issues were raised earlier by others also.
It also directed the Centre to formulate standard operating procedure (SOP) to deal with claims and objections.
Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal said the "historic day will remain etched in their memories forever".
The govt asserted the Centre has no role in the preparation of the draft list.
A total of 3,30,27,661 people had applied to be included in the NRC. Of them, 3,11,21,004 have been included in the document and 19,06,657 excluded.
NRC State Coordinator Prateek Hajela said those people whose names have been excluded in the first list need not worry.
On compilation of six crucial documents, it was found that around two lakh of them from one crore were forged.
'I do not think that we are showing Hindu humanity and humaneness in the process of the National Register of Citizens.'
The Trinamool Congress sought complete withdrawal of the NRC, alleging that Indian citizens have also been left out of the final draft.
'The central and Assamese governments want to get 35 lakh to 40 lakh Bangladeshis (Hindus) to come to Assam and make the Assamese people a minority.' 'They want to make Assam a Bengali state.' 'Bengalis by nature are BJP supporters whereas Assamese people don't support the BJP.'
'Most Assamese don't understand a word like ghuspethiya and its insulting connotation.'
'There is a design of fundamentalists that the north east must become an Islamic country.'
'The loose use of words like foreigner or Bangladeshis obscures the fact that the post-Partition migration to Assam has been of both Hindus and Muslims.'
