Heavily-armed National Democratic Front of Bodoland (Songbijit) militants unleashed violence in two districts of Assam falling under Bodoland Territorial Administration area, killing 11 people, including three children, and leaving three others seriously injured since Thursday night.
National Hydroelectric Power Corporation General Manager Anil Kumar Agarwal, who was abducted by the outlawed militants belonging to the National Democratic Front of Bodoland on Saturday while he was on his way to Tezpur in Assam from project site at Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh, has remained untraced, though police and army have launched an operation to trace him.

Violence surged in Assam on Wednesday as the toll in the massacre of tribals by Bodo militants rose to 65 including 21 women and 18 children, sparking a retaliation in which Bodo homes and a police station were attacked leaving three persons dead allegedly in police firing.
