At least nine people, majority of them foreigners, were killed and over 30 others wounded when powerful blasts rocked two luxury hotels in Jakarta on Friday morning.The police fear that the number of casualties might go up once the identification process begins after the clearing of the debris.The blasts took place at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel and J W Marriott Hotel. The exact number of blasts is yet to be ascertained.

Pakistani authorities on Sunday released dramatic security camera footage of the suicide attack on the Marriott Hotel in Islamabad that depicted the final minutes before a truck packed with 600 kg of explosives blew up, causing widespread destruction.The footage captured by the Marriott's close-circuit security cameras showed guards running for cover as the six-wheeled truck, packed with explosives hidden under construction material, rammed into a retractable barricade.

In the wake of the deadly suicide attack on Marriott Hotel, the United States embassy in Islamabad on Thursday suspended its consular services and said American officials would no longer be permitted to stay in or frequent hotels in the eastern city of Lahore.A statement issued by the embassy said routine consular services, including visa services, would be temporarily suspended on September 25 and 26. All visa interviews would be rescheduled, it said.
