A police constable in Chennai has been suspended following allegations of trespassing and attempting to misbehave with a woman at her residence. An investigation is underway.
"Various organisations and anti-social elements had infiltrated the pro-Jallikattu protests (at Marina) with the intention of diverting it," he said.
The Ice House police station, near Marina beach, is up in flames. The protestors I met the other day would certainly not have done any such thing. Hoodlums and thugs appear to have infiltrated their ranks, determined to provoke trouble.
There were incidents of stone-pelting and burning of vehicles and sundry items at various places in protest against the police action.
