During the hearing, CBI told the court that they need to arrest Samir Singhani and one Rahul to unearth the entire conspiracy and for that custodial interrogation of the accused was necessary.
Lawyer of both the accused, asserted that CBI's case against both his clients was merely on the basis of recorded conversations allegedly intercepted by the agency.
Special CBI Judge Swarana Kanta Sharma observed that the accused was 'concealing himself' and despite issuance of non bailable warrants against him twice, he could not be arrested by the probe agency.
Earlier, a special CBI court had issued non-bailable warrants against Neeraj Singal, Vice Chairman and Managing Director of Bhushan Steel Ltd, and Purushotam Totlani, an alleged middleman, in connection with the Syndicate Bank bribery case.
The judge had on Wednesday dismissed the anticipatory bail plea of Singal.
Former Railway Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal's nephew Vijay Singla and nine others, arrested in the Rs 10-crore cash-for-post railway bribery case, were on Tuesday put on trial by a special court on charges of conspiracy and corruption.
Bansal has been named as the 39th prosecution witness in the case in which Singla, the then Member (Staff) of Railway Board Mahesh Kumar and eight others have been chargesheeted for the offence of criminal conspiracy under the IPC and relevant provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
