The Uttar Pradesh government on Sunday constituted a three-member judicial commission to probe into the killing of gangster-politician Atiq Ahmad and his brother Khalid Azeem alias Ashraf.
The state government announced the formation of a two-member judicial enquiry committee to probe the encounter in Jhansi.
The assailants -- Mohit alias Sunny (23) of Hamirpur, Lavlesh Tiwari (22) of Banda and Arun Maurya (18) of Kasganj -- were arrested soon after the dramatic shootout outside the Prayagraj hospital where policemen were escorting the brothers for a medical check-up Saturday night.
The three assailants who killed gangster-politician Atiq Ahmad and his brother Ashraf posed as journalists, carrying video cameras, mics and media identity cards, the Uttar Pradesh Police said on Sunday.
The Rajasthan government on Monday informed the Supreme Court that it has suspended two senior police officers for their failure to arrest a hotelier, who has been convicted for raping a British tourist.
"Our arrest is against the law as no written order was shown to us," Yadav said.
