NGOs working for the rights of the survivors of the 1984 Bhopal gas disaster on Wednesday alleged that various governments in Madhya Pradesh and at the Centre have failed to bring the culprits of the world's biggest industrial tragedy to justice even after 37 years.
Terming the Group of Ministers' relief package to the Bhopal gas tragedy victims as a 'betrayal', some non-governmental organisations working for the disaster-affected on Wednesday said they will hold a protest in New Delhi on Thursday."The relief package has betrayed the victims of Bhopal gas tragedy and we are going to stage a protest tomorrow in New Delhi," Bhopal Gas Peedit Mahila Udyog Sangathan convenor Abdul Jabbar said. The Rs 1,500-crore package is 'too little'.
Even as the 26th anniversary of the Bhopal gas disaster is being observed in the city on Friday, its victims continue to be plagued with a number of problems that have not been resolved over the years.
