A meeting of the faculty of arts and sciences at Harvard University in the United States has voted to remove the summer economic courses taught by Janata Party leader Dr Subramanian Swamy. The decision was taken after a heated debate, according to The Harvard Crimson, the campus newspaper.
Janata Party president Subramanian Swamy on Tuesday welcomed the Supreme Court verdict on the issue of granting of sanction for prosecution of public servants, saying it has "simplified the issue" in graft cases lodged under the Prevention of Corruption Act. Terming the ruling as a "victory for the Constitution and the war against corruption", Swamy said it has also "empowered all of us who are fighting against corruption."

HDFC Bank's latest shareholding data showed that the room for foreign investment has fallen just 5 basis points short of the threshold set by Morgan Stanley Capital International (MSCI) to fully include the stock in its indices. Currently, the index provider has applied an adjustment factor of 0.5 since the foreign room is less than 25 per cent. Removal of the adjustment factor will result in inflows of a massive $4.8 billion (Rs 40,000 crore) into HDFC Bank, according to Brian Freitas, a New Zealand-based analyst with Periscope Analytics.

Janata Party chief Subramanian Swamy on Thursday said Harvard University should take a re-look at its decision to remove courses taught by him, while maintaining that it should have sought his comments before reaching a conclusion. In his reaction to the University's decision to remove courses taught by him, terming as "reprehensible" his views in a controversial piece he wrote on Islamic terrorism, Swamy said the University should have first sought his comment.
