Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday flagged off two specially designed Vande Bharat trains between Katra town and Srinagar city, reducing travel time between the two places by two to three hours and ensuring all-weather surface connectivity with the Kashmir valley.
The train, on its maiden trial run, arrived at Srinagar station in the Nowgam area on Srinagar's outskirts from Katra in Jammu.

Jammu and Kashmir can boast of having the world's tallest bridge after the construction of the Chenab bridge in Reasi district by Indian Railways. "The Chenab Bridge, linking Kauri and Bakkal hamlets in Reasi district. will have a height of 359 m above the bed of Chenab," deputy chief engineer (DCE) Konkan Railways, Ishwar Chand said.
The massive arch-shaped 1.315-km long 'engineering marvel', designed to withstand wind speeds of up to 260 km per hour, will rise 359 m above the river bed.
