Pacer Sohail Tanvir is among the six Pakistani players banned from playing at a ground in Karachi after being charged with ball-tampering and abusing the umpires during a Ramadan festival Twenty20 match. Officials confirmed that Tanvir, Ahmed Shahzed, Sohail Khan, Javed Qadeer, who have all played for the national team, and Tanveer Ahmed and Nadeem Sheikh, have been banned from playing any matches at the famous Karachi Gymkhana ground.

Prime accused in the multi-crore fake stamp paper case Abdul Karim Telgi and two of his accomplices were sentenced to 10 years rigorous imprisonment by the special Central Bureau of Investigation court in Bhopal. The judge found Telgi, Shabbir Ahmed Sheikh and Sohail Khan guilty under section of 120-B of Indian Penal Code pertaining to criminal conspiracy and IPC section 255 dealing with counterfeiting of government stamp papers and imposed fine of Rs five lakh on each.

Pakistan named four pace bowlers in their line-up for the first Test against Sri Lanka and three youngsters who have yet to make their Test debut. Pakistan captain Younis Khan said the 12 players selected for the match, which begins on Saturday, includes opener Khurrum Manzoor and pace bowlers Sohail Khan and Mohammad Talha, untried at Test level. Manzoor and Khan have played ODIs but Talha is yet to play at any level for Pakistan.
