Travel solutions firm Samsonite Corporation is looking for prospective partners for outsourcing its product manufacturing in Tamil Nadu and Gurgaon.
Samsonite India will be shutting down its manufacturing unit at Nashik over the next three years. Production at the plant, which has a capacity of 10 million units, will be scaled down to 50 per cent by December 2006.
Samsonite, the luggage bags maker, is aiming at over 30 per cent sales growth to Rs 120 crore (Rs 1.20 billion) next year, mainly through a spurt in sales of its new mid-segment premium range - American Tourister.
The Rs 1,500-crore (Rs 15 billion) ladies handbag market will see some major action this year, with luggage makers V.I.P and Samsonite contemplating entry soon.
