Biju Janata Dal member of Legislative Assembly Jhina Hikaka was kidnapped as his party did not honour a "secret deal" struck with the Maoist-backed Chasi Mulia Adivasi Sangha during the recent Zilla Parishad elections, opposition Congress Chief Whip Prasad Harichandan alleged on Tuesday.
The Congress on Friday said it was sorry for the assault on a woman constable during its rally in Bhubaneswar as the name of All India Congress Committee in-charge of Odisha Jagadish Tytler came up.
"Sasmita Rana, the bravest little girl I ever met, died at Sishu Bhavan in Cuttack. She remained proud and strong against all odds."
Candidates of the Naveen Patnaik-led party have won in 105 assembly seats, while the Congress has won 16 seats (11 in the previous assembly), and the Bharatiya Janata party 10 seats.
The deceased, identified as Janakibla Hui, had been shifted to AIIMS soon after the devastating fire ravaged the private medical facility on Monday evening, a spokesman of AIIMS-Bhubaneswar said.
