The Assam police killed a hardcore militant of the banned United Liberation Front of Assam and arrested another militant in two separate operations in eastern Assam on Tuesday.
Gogoi said security in Guwahati had been tightened. Checking of vehicles had been intensified and additional security forces were deployed in vulnerable areas, he said.
Two person were killed and 20 others, including four police men, injured in a bomb blast near a temporary election office of BJP in Assam's Goalpara district.
