A wedding celebration in Gwalior district of Madhya Pradesh turned violent after a group of guests assaulted the bride, groom, and their family members following a dispute over the refusal to serve liquor.

Some members of the groom's family sustained injuries during the incident, which occurred on Tuesday night in Patai village under the Aron police station area.

 

The family also alleged that the accused stole household items and money during the assault.

Details of the Dispute

City Superintendent of Police (CSP) Manish Yadav stated that the dispute arose when neighbours of the groom, Mahesh Jatav, demanded alcohol during the wedding celebrations.

The situation escalated when the groom refused to provide alcohol or pay for it, resulting in a physical altercation.

Mahesh Jatav's mother, Sheela, reported that the neighbours arrived during wedding rituals and demanded money for alcohol from her son.

She further alleged that when they were denied money, the neighbours assaulted her family members, including herself, her husband, and the bride.

Police Investigation

CSP Yadav confirmed that the matter is currently under investigation.
