Admitting that there were problems with the Left, Congress president Sonia Gandhi Tuesday said the media was "exaggerating" the differences in order to "remain in business".
Asked whether she was annoyed by the tantrums of the Left parties over various issues, including disinvestment, Sonia said, "I think a lot of it is exaggerated by the press. You have to be in business and we are the provider of the business."
Sonia made the remarks at a question-answer session after delivering her key-note address at the third annual 'Hindustan Times Leadership Summit', which began its two-day session in New Delhi.
Sonia, who is also the chairperson of the ruling United Progressive Alliance, said there was not a single issue which could not be resolved through consultations with the allies and the Left parties.
"Yes, there are problems as there were in the previous National Democratic Alliance coalition. We are working with 14 parties and till now we have not faced a single problem" which really went out of control.
She said she was "more than confident" that as and when issues cropped up these would be sorted as had been done in the past.
"We have devised an arrangement. We are meeting regularly," she said.
The Left had stayed away from the UPA-Left coordination committee meetings for over five months following differences over the government's decision to divest 10% of its stake from the Bharat Heavy Electicals Limited. It ended its boycott after extracting an assurance that there would be no disinvestment in Navratna companies.
