Pakistan interior minister Rehman Malik addressing a press conference in Karachi after the 16-hour siege on the naval airbase ended says, (basically), all's well that ends well. All navy assets are secure,no hostages were taken, but 10 navy personnel were killed (down from the earlier reported figure of 12), 15 injured. He says there are some people who want to destabilise Pakistan. Several terrorists have been captured. But complete silence on the alleged killing of Taliban boss Mullah Omar.

Malik was the same man who had infamously warned the Pak cricket team that they would be watched closely for match fixing during the World Cup.
