An attempt to steal documents from the courtroom of the judge hearing the Pramod Mahajan murder case was foiled on Tuesday night.

The police said the security guard at Additional Sessions Judge Srihari P Dawre's courtroom at the civil and sessions court complex spotted some movement at around 9.30 pm.

The intruder, hearing the approaching footsteps, ran off but dropped a bundle of documents related to various cases, they said.

Documents were also found lying around inside the courtroom. However, nothing in particular seemed to be missing, police said.

This was the second break-in at Dawre's court in less than a week. On October 30, when the courts reopened after the Diwali vacation, security personnel found that somebody had broken into the locked courtroom.

Security at the court complex has been stepped up, especially at night, police said.

The security provided to Dawre too will be upgraded, they said.
