Members of Pramod Mahajan's family Monday said there was an "improvement" in the condition of the Bharatiya Janata Party general secretary, who is undergoing treatment at Hinduja Hospital for bullet injuries.

Mahajan's son, Rahul and brother in-law, Gopinath Munde, former deputy chief minister of Maharashtra, told reporters
that there was an improvement in Mahajan's condition, and they were hopeful that he would recover from the illness.

Rahul thanked doctors for doing an "excellent" job, adding that the BJP leader was under treatment of a joint team of Hinduja doctors and those who have come from the United Kingdom.

He thanked crores of people across the country who are praying for the well being of Mahajan.

"At this testing time, only prayers come to one's help," he told reporters.
