Arjun Rampal is all smiles, as the feedback and praise for his latest film D-Day come in.

“It has definitely garnered positive reactions. It’s been fantastic and it’s still sinking in,” he says.

“Nikhil (Advani) and I might end up making a sequel. Rudra (the character he plays) is still alive and he might go on another mission in the sequel. Let’s see, that will take some time.”

'I can never say no to Prakash Jha'

The National Award winning actor (for Rock On) believes that he has finally found his place in the industry. "Everybody wants to surprise people... I too want to do that. I think films like Rock OnRajneetiChakravyuh, and Inkaar turned out to be good for me. Prakash Jha thinks I am the most versatile actor in the industry,” he says proudly.

Arjun’s next film is Satyagrah directed by Prakash Jha.

“I can never say no to him even if he has just two-three lines for me to say in his film. And so is the case with Abhishek Kapoor.”

'I don't think there is anything today like a multi-starrer or a solo film'

In most of the films he has acted in, he is one of many stars. Are audiences still hesitant to accept him in a single role film?

“I don’t think there is anything today like a multi-starrer or a solo film. I think film is the hero of everything today. Everybody just comes and works,” he replies.

He adds, "I work in films that give me an opportunity to transform into a character. If a good story is to be told and a great character has to be played, then five or six or alone, I don’t care.”

He says he would like to cash in on the trend for making biographical movies and would love to produce a biopic for his production house Chasing Ganesha.

'I quite love the concept of a biopic and would like to make one myself'

He loved Bhaag Milkha Bhaag very much. "There are lots of scripts that are ready. They are all different—drama, action film, biopic…. All are interesting projects. I quite love the concept of a biopic. Hopefully, we will be making one. I cannot tell on who; there are two or three that I'm extremely kicked about.”

Would he act in the film himself? "If I am suitable for the role and it is interesting and challenging then I will surely do it. But it is not necessary to act always in the films that I produce," he said.

'I have no idea why people talk about me and Shah Rukh Khan'

His recent statement that his relationship with Shah Rukh Khan is no one's business but his own raised eyebrows. But Arjun doesn’t see why it should.

"I didn't say that in a tone of anger. But it’s true. My business with him is mine and I don’t want to talk about it. I have no idea why people talk about me and SRK.

"I think I'm close to a lot of people in Bollywood but I believe in the evil eye. Whenever I talk about friendships and relationships in public, something somewhere goes wrong with it," he says ruefully.

“Friendships are a personal thing and it's good to keep it that way," he signs off.
