This is as dramatic as it gets!
The fashion industry's top-billed event, the annual Met Gala, is an invitation-only fundraiser held for New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute.
The Gala, which is held on the first Monday of May, is also celebrating its 70th anniversary this year.
It is known for its outrageously innovative themes and, this year, the glamorous invitees were asked to celebrate Heavenly Bodies: Fashion And The Catholic Imagination.
This led to interesting, innovative fashion on the red carpet. Take a look:
Jennifer Lopez opted for a thigh-high slit gown in black, red and blue; you cannot miss the huge beaded cross highlighting the front of her outfit.
Rihanna made heads turn with her white, heavily beaded Maison Margiela dress, paired with a bishop hat.
Madonna dressed up in John Paul Gaultier as a gothic queen; the cross was unmissable in her accessories.
Amal Clooney, posing here with husband George Clooney, wore a strapless floral top with navy blue pants.
Frances McDormand's headgear was a showstealer.
Blake Lively wore a Versace gown with a massive train.
Selena Gomez opted for a sheer white Coach gown.
Jaden Smith hung on to the gold certificate that he received for his hit song Icon.
Sarah Jessica Parker wore a metallic Dolce & Gabbana gown with a long train.
Scarlett Johansson wore a Marchesa burgundy ombre gown and walked the red carpet with beau Colin Jost.
Marchesa was founded by Harvey Weinstein's ex-wife, Georgina Chapman.
Paul Bettany, who wore Ermenegildo Zegna Couture, escorted his wife, Jennifer Connelly, who was dressed in a Louis Vuitton gown.
Kendall Jenner looked stunning in an off-shoulder white top with sheer sleeves.
Naomi Watts posed with her designer, Michael Kors.
Paris Jackson, in a brown Stella McCartney gown and an simple head accessory, caught up with Miley Cyrus, in a plunging neckline black dress, and their designer, Stella McCartney.
