Touchtel, India's first private fixed line telephone service provider from Bharti Telecom Limited, on Wednesday announced the slashing of ISD and STD rates.
The reduction in the rates would come into retrospective effect from April 4, M S Ramachandran, chief techonology officer of Touchtel, said in Chennai.
While international calls from Touchtel to destinations like the United States and United Kingdom would now cost Rs.6.90 per minute, STD rates to Bangalore and Mumbai from Chennai would be Rs.2.99 per minute, he said.
The call charges to destinations in Tamil Nadu within a radius of 200 km from Chennai would be Rs.1.99 per minute.
Touchtel would charge uniform STD rates for the calls made from both fixed line and the mobile phones, he said.
