Automaker Tata Engineering & Locomotive Co Ltd said on Monday its total vehicle sales in May vaulted 67.9 per cent from a year ago to 21,929 units, boosted by higher car sales.
Telco, owned by the powerful Tata group, said in a statement domestic sales of medium and heavy trucks and buses combined jumped 29.3 per cent in the month to 6,389 units. Light commercial vehicles sales soared 55.3 per cent to 3,411 units.

Telco said it sold 6,772 units of its Indica small car in the month compared with only 2,995 units in May, 2002. It also sold 1,983 units of the Indigo sedan and 2,160 utility vehicles. The Indigo was launched in December last year.
Ahead of the announcement, Telco's shares ended 1.4 per cent up at Rs 183.65 at the Bombay Stock Exchange whose benchmark index, the Sensex, ended one per cent higher.
