Tata Motors said on Thursday production at its car plant in Pune may get affected following a fire at its paint shop. There was no casualty.

"Preliminary assessments indicate that production from the paint shop may get impaired for about a week," a company statement said from Mumbai.

The company has about a week's inventory of supply float in the pipeline, it said.

All necessary steps are being taken to resume production at the earliest, simultaneously mobilising alternate painting facilities within Tata Motors' Pune plant, it added.

Tata Motors said it was ascertaining the extent of damage.

The facility is adequately insured for fire, including for loss of operations, the statement added.
