Ratan Tata, chief of Tata Group, on Friday said the ambitious Rs 100,000 car will be manufactured from three-four places, including West Bengal and Uttaranchal.

"It will be in West Bengal, it will be in Uttaranchal. It will be manufactured from three-four places," Tata said here after meeting Finance Minister P Chidambaram.

Tata Motors has already finalised a Rs 1,000 crore (Rs 10 billion) plant at Singur in West Bengal for the

manufacture of the "people's car".

In his address to the shareholders of Tata Motors last month, Ratan Tata had said that the much-touted Rs 100,000 car would be launched in early 2008, as the company had completed its styling and designing and tested the prototypes within the plant.

He said, the launch of the car would create a new paradigm in low-cost personal transport, carve out a new market segment and reach a broader base of the pyramid.
