Sensex hits an all-time high of 7,635

The Sensex opened on a positive note at 7,556 and soon gathered momentum to rise above the 7,600-mark.

The Nifty opened almost flat at 2,318 and was trading below its previous day close of 2,319-point mark.

After zooming to all time intra-day highs, the Sensex lost early gains on rumours of a cyclone in Mumbai.

The Sensex finally closed at a new all-time closing high of 7,635, with a gain of 30 points.

The Nifty lost 7 points to close at 2,312.

Infosys, Wipro, Bajaj, Bharti, Dr Reddy's, HDFC, ICICI Bank, Hero Honda and HLL made gains.

Satyam, TCS Cipla, HDFC Bank, ITC, Maruti, ONGC and Ranbaxy, ended in negative territory.
