The Sensex closed 36 points higher at 5,713. The Nifty was up 11 points at 1,798.
Infosys, Satyam and Wipro were the star performers finishing with huge gains at Rs 1,816, Rs 406 and Rs 660, respectively.
Reliance gained 1.4% (Rs 8) at Rs 543. While ITC was up Rs 10 at Rs 1,117, HLL moved up a rupee at Rs 128.
Hindalco
and Tisco were the major losers today. They finally finished with hefty losses at Rs 1,234 and Rs 284, respectively.
HDFC plunged 5.2% (Rs 36) to Rs 654.
