Reliance Energy Q1 net up 42%

Reliance Energy has reported a 42 per cent spurt in net profit at Rs 156.63 crore (Rs 1.57 billion) for the first quarter ended June 30, 2005 as compared to Rs 110.01 crore (Rs 1.10 billion) in Q1FY05. Total income has increased to Rs 1,084.44 crore (Rs 1.84 billion) in Q1FY06 from Rs 1,019.70 crore (Rs 10.2 billion) in Q1FY05.

According to a release issued by Reliance Energy to the BSE, the board has approved payment of quarterly dividend of Rs 1.20 (12 per cent)

per equity share of the company.
