Finance ministry may see a major bureaucratic reshuffle with revenue secretary Vineeta Rai tipped to head the interim Pension Fund Regulatory & Development Authority.
Rai is expected to take over from Vinod Rai early next month, official sources said in New Delhi.
Vinod Rai is likely to become the banking secretary, as the present incumbent N S Sisodia is likely to succeed Vineeta Rai as revenue secretary.
With this reshuffle, finance ministry will be ready with its team for Budget preparation by a new government after the Lok Sabha elections.
Finance secretary D C Gupta, who is retiring in July this year, is expected to head the Budget team if NDA government is voted back to power.
The finance ministry is understood to have cleared the name of Vineeta Rai as PFRDA chairperson and an official notification is expected after the approval from the appointments committee of Cabinet.
PFRDA will have four more members including U K Sinha, currently joint secretary in charge of capital markets.
