Nearly half of those employed in various positions do not mind stress if it comes with a better pay package, while only one-third of the workforce is ready for a salary cut with a cut in stress, a survey has said.

"Around 41 per cent employees (who responded to the online poll) are ready to take on greater stress provided they get better pay packets. While 33 per cent of participants said they would accept a cut of up to 15 per cent in their current salary for a lesser stressful job," reveals the survey conducted by Monster India, an online job search site.

Only 9 per cent of the respondents said they would actually opt for a cut in salary higher than 15 per cent to get a less stressful job, it said.

However a total of 16 per cent said they do not have a stressful job at all, it added.

Results of the survey were based on votes cast by 8,355 participants between October 6, 2005 to October 20, 2005. Only one vote per user is counted towards the final tabulation.

The survey forms a part of Monster Meter, an ongoing series of online polls on a variety of topics relating to careers and the workplace.

"It appears that a significant percentage of people who participated in the poll are driven by desire to succeed even if it meant taking on more stressful profiles," Dhruv Shenoy, vice president, Monster Asia said.

"There still remains a set of employees who value work-life balance over and above stress and money," he added.
