Workers of state-owned Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd and Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd returned to work on Friday after a three-day strike to oppose privatisation of the cash-rich oil refiners.
"Employees of the refinery and marketing divisions are back this morning," a BPCL spokesperson said from Mumbai.
Operations are inching back to normal as the strike mainly affected tanker loading. The strike, however, had not affected refinery functioning and supplies as officers filled in for the workers.
A HPCL spokeswomen said all the staff was back to work and backlogs were being cleared.
The Centre of Indian Trade Unions, which was spearheading the agitation, will meet in Mumbai next month to chalk-out the future course of action in case the government does not reverse the decision to sell its stake in HPCL to a strategic investor.
"Things are normal now," a senior government official said.
