"We don't see retailing lending rate moving up, but the corporate lending rate may see increase as sub PLR rates are very low," Aditya Puri, MD said on the sidelines of launching HDFC Bank's corporate credit card, Mastercard in association with Mastercard International.
He added since the sub PLR rates are very low the bank would consider increasing the corporate lending rate, but the retail lending rates would remain the same.
He, however, said there should be a BPLR benchmark in the country as is the global practice. "Globally there is a benchmark retailer rate, that practice should be followed in India as well," he said.
HDFC had increased deposit rates earlier this month. Puri said the bank would not issue any fresh shares domestically as well as internationally, but it will keep raising Tier II capital.
