The number of GSM subscribers in the country increased by 5 per cent to 121 million during the month, from 115 million in February.
This has come at a time when the GSM operaters have disconnected over 2 million subscribers not verified as part of a government-ordered drive.
However, TV Ramachandran, director-general of the Cellular Operators Association of India, said subscribers who had been disconnected would be off the rolls after a 90-day gap.
Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd topped the charts in subscriber addition with 1.98 million subscribers. This increased its total subscriber base to 27.4 million. Bharti Airtel was in the second slot with a subscriber addition of 1.70 million.
