Investors on Friday gained an estimated over Rs 22,000 crore (Rs 220 billion) in market capitalisation, even as Reliance Industries gained 4 per cent to close at a lifetime high of Rs 667.80.
The market capitalisation of 'A', 'B1' and 'B2' group stocks, which comprise the bulk of the market, rose by 1.15 per cent or by Rs 20,685.90 crore (Rs 206.85 billion) from Rs 18,02,717.05 crore (Rs 18027.17 billion) on July 14 to Rs 18,23,402.95 crore (Rs 18234.02 billion) on Friday.
'B2' group stocks were the biggest gainers in percentage terms, registering a 2.29 per cent increase in market capitalization or by Rs 774.81 crore (Rs 7.74 billion) from Rs 33,835.10 crore (Rs 338.35 billion) to Rs 34,609.91 crore (Rs 346.09 billion).
'A' group stocks recorded the lowest gains in percentage terms of 1.10 per cent, but gained the most in absolute terms with their M-cap rising by Rs 16,572.87 crore (Rs 165.72 billion) from Rs 5,13,322.07 crore (Rs 5133.22 billion) to Rs 15,29,894.94 crore (Rs 15298.94 billion).
'B1' group stocks were the second biggest gainers in percentage terms rising by 1.31 per cent or by Rs 3,338.22 crore (Rs 33.38 billion) from Rs 255,559.88 crore (Rs 2555.59 billion) to Rs 258,898.10 crore (Rs 2588.98 billion).
