Gujarat Ambuja Q2 net jumps 50%

Gujarat Ambuja Cements has reported a 50 per cent surge in net profit to Rs 89.55 crore (Rs 895.5 million) for the second quarter ended December 31, 2004 as compared to Rs 59.54 crore (Rs 595.4 million) in the corresponding quarter of the last fiscal.

According to a release issued to the Bombay Stock Exchange, the total income (net of excise) has jumped 48 per cent to Rs 660.67 crore (Rs 6.60 billion) for the quarter ended December 31, 2004 from Rs 445.21 crore (Rs 4.45 billion) in Q2-03.

The company has posted a 50 per cent  rise in consolidated net profit to Rs 91.64 crore (Rs 916.4 million) for the quarter ended December 31, 2004 as compared to Rs 61.11 crore (Rs 611.1 million) for the quarter ended December 31, 2003.

The total income (net of excise) has increased from Rs 525.41 crore (Rs 5.25 billion) in Q2-03 to Rs 776.70 crore (Rs 7.76 billion) for the quarter ended December 31, 2004. The total income for consolidated results includes shares of earnings of associates, the release added.
