Industrialist Vinod Doshi passes away

Industrialist Vinod L Doshi passed away after a protracted illness at Mumbai's Jaslok Hospital on Monday evening.

He was 76 and is survived by wife Saryu Doshi, an art scholar, and son Maitreya.

Doshi, who came from an illustrious industrial family, was the son of the late Lalchand Hirachand of the Walchand Hirachand

He headed Premier Ltd and was the past president (1982-83) of AIEI (present-day Confederation of Indian Industry).

Doshi's contribution to the machine tools and engineering industry has been remarkable. He played a pivotal role in contributing to the industrial and economic growth of Maharashtra, CII said.
