Private telecom operator Bharti's net profit in the first six months of the current financial year touched Rs 630 crore (Rs 6.3 billion) beating the whole of last year's (2003-04) profit at Rs 620 crore (Rs 6.2 billion).
The company clocked a total revenue of Rs 3564 crore (Rs 35.64 billion) during April-September period of this year over Rs 2180 crore (21.80 billion) in the corresponding period last year.
In the second quarter of 2004-05, Bharti reported a net profit of Rs 334 crore (Rs 3.34 billion) compared to Rs 93.39 crore (Rs 933.9 million) last year.
Commenting on the performance, Sunil Mittal, group chairman and managing director said "Bharti's strong performance both in the second quarter and first half has once again demonstrated its ability to maximise the full benefits of scale and size."
